Navy Seals and Cannabis

Ever since the recent wave of legalization of Cannabis/marijuana throughout the United States of America, the cannabis market has been sprouting tremendously. Despite still being considered illegal by the Federal Government, it is now more than ever that Cannabis use is extending boundaries, engulfing the naval grounds.

Rules of Cannabis Legalization for Navy Seals

Despite the commencing legalization of this drug through several parts of the country, the same federal rule, however, does not impact the honorable US Navy seals. The US Navy is, under no circumstance, allowed to use drugs of any kind, including Cannabis. If the rule is not abided by, it has serious consequences. If anyone of them is found to own cannabis or under the influence of this drug, their Tridents or Seal badges are taken away, and they are placed in regular navy. Not just this, they may even have to face a Court Martial. There is a possibility they will be discharged OTH (Other Than Honorable).

Thus, conclusively, if any Navy Seals tend to use cannabis, they are not just putting their health in danger but also their entire career in ruins. This rule applies regardless of the Cannabis announced legal or illegal states they are boarding in at the moment.

The Current Situation of Navy Seals and the Abuse of Cannabis Drug

The US Navy is one of the most auspicious and respectful military assets of the country. However, it is battling an enemy within, i.e., drug abuse.

There has been a staggering number of cases of drug abuse among the Seals, which has put their commanders in dismay. They were shocked to be betrayed by good, honorable men who were found to be involved in the use of cannabis.

Even at the end of 2016 in December, Seals were forced to put a halt to their training as extensive measures were planned to take care of the increasing “drug problem.”

Previously when the issue had triggered enough to become a major concern to the commanders, it was found out that most Seals were not having their regular urinalysis. This was because the test would take place in their home base, but since the Navy is a tremendously active military asset, Seals would hardly be available. However, once noticed by the seniors, it was made sure that these tests would be taken regularly without an excuse.

Various health and mental issues, such as depression and paranoia, have become visibly common among individuals who have started drugs while being on duty. Thus, strict measures are bound to be taken.

The Bottom Line

The US Navy is a population of people who are considered to be elite performers. They are a trusted group that is most active in demand than the other military assets. They are entrusted with security information and huge national responsibilities. Thus the nation believes the integrity of every individual enrolled as a Seal.

However, the drug abuse problem has come as a huge surprise to many, including the commanders. This is why strict measures are being taken now. Anyone who is tested positive for cannabis or other drugs gets the sentenced penalty without exception.
